McCall / McCall's Patterns
The McCall Pattern Company was founded in New York in 1870 by Scottish tailor James McCall, who began by designing and selling his own sewing patterns. To advertise, he launched a fashion journal, The Queen, which evolved into McCall's Magazine. The company expanded its offerings to include home decor and became one of the leading pattern companies, known for its variety and quality. The McCall Pattern Company created the very first printed sewing patterns, completely revolutionizing the industry. McCall held the patent rights for printed patterns from 1919 to 1938.
Pattern envelopes from 1870 to 1951 will have the "McCall" name and envelopes from 1951 onwards will have the "McCall's" name.
